For those of Eric’s fans that thought all he did was paint historical art, you will be amazed to learn that Eric was an artist of all forms. I was fortunate to have Mike Regenstreif contact me this morning advising me of a special tribute he did for Eric’s music on CKUT Montreal on February 8. Mike’s show is called “Folk Roots/Folk Branches.”
Now is your chance to finally hear the voice of Eric von Schmidt, the voice that inspired a very young Bob Dylan to search von Schmidt out and knock on his front door. Eric opened it and invited the young stranger into his home. The rest is history.
Although I’ve been listening to Eric’s music for years, hearing it within Mike’s tribute has brought tears to my eyes. I’ll miss Eric immensely. Enjoy the tribute Caitlin.
